We have offered gardening classes for several years now at Cherokee County Extension. The classes were offered in a classroom setting information on soil sampling and amendments, site selection, planting techniques, plant and variety selection, integrated pest management, weed control and many others. All good information, but we have received many requests of “show me how to” soil sample, to plant, to identify and scout for pests, choose the right sprayer, to properly mix and apply pesticides if needed. If you are a beginning gardener or just want to learn more on the practical application of vegetable gardening, this series is for you.
Topic: Honeybee habitat. The Murphy High Home Economics teacher has some bee hives located near the garden to help pollinate crops. We are also installing a honeybee habitat with wildflowers adjacent to the garden.
