Description:

Join N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, and Northwest Piedmont Master Naturalist Volunteers in the Demonstration Garden at the Forsyth County Agricultural Building to celebrate ALL THINGS POLLINATOR! The Pollinator Palooza is an opportunity to celebrate the value and importance of pollinators by learning more about pollinator identification and native plants, and to participate in this year's Great Southeast Pollinator Census. Help us capture a snapshot of pollinator activity in communities across North Carolina, including the types of pollinators and which flowers they visit, and help build a southeast-wide data set with other states!

You don’t need to be an expert in insect identification, and anyone can participate! It only takes 15 minutes of observation to add your data to the database, so feel free to drop in anytime between 10 am and 2 pm - you can even stop by on your lunch break! Data recording sheets will also be available for participants to take home.

Water will be provided, along with fun pollinator activities, a pollinator-themed photo booth, data recording sheets, and volunteers to assist with identification and census data collection.  Free registration is requested to help us know how many people to expect.

The Census is an example of the importance of citizen science, where the community comes together to increase our knowledge of the world around us so we can do our part to protect it.
