Results

This was a double crop soybean trial following wheat. Treatments were replicated 4 times, with and without the fertilizer in furrow. The in-furrow treatment consisted of: Riser (1 gal/ac), Accomplish Max (1 quart/ac), and Vault SP (1.4 oz/50 lb seed). The treatments were not significantly different from one another in this trial.

  • Treatments were made in-furrow at planting. Rates were as follows: Vydate, 34 oz/ac – Velum, 6.5 oz/ac + Imidacloprid, 10 oz per acre
  • Acephate applied over the top: June 1st
  • Intrepid Edge applied over the top: June 8th
  • Root Knot nematode samples were taken on September 13th

Corn Wireworm Phenology Study

  • This trial was organized by Dr. Anders Huseth (NC State Field Crops Ecology Extension Specialist) and Erin Eure (N.C. Cooperative Extension Area Specialized Agent, Commercial Fruits & Vegetables)
  • The objective of this study was to collect weekly adult male corn wireworm counts from pheromone sticky traps to model adult activity throughout the growing season. 4 traps were placed along the outer edges of a sweet potato field.
  • The data will be used to model population dynamics overtime with the goal of developing an accurate threshold and better-timed management decisions for making insecticide treatments
  • Sweet potatoes were planted July 1, 2023
