Job Description The MAIN GOAL of the NC Fresh Produce Safety Laboratory is to generate science based information within preharvest to postharvest environments of fruits and vegetables that can assist growers, packers, shippers, food processors and handlers in reducing the risk of contamination of human pathogens along the supply chain. EXTENSION GOALS: we look to assist individuals in training and implementation of GAPs, commodity specific guidelines, preventive controls for human food and produce safety rules specific to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). RESEARCH GOALS: our laboratory approaches research from an applied perspective looking to address food safety needs within field production, packing house and fresh cut environments.
