Figure 2. Pollination technique: Blow previously collected and screened pollen into hole in bag made of artificial sausage casing using disposable pipette. Bag is stapled shut through a double fold on the distil end and fastened with a twistie around a piece of polyester batting at the stem end. Once the pollen is dispersed the bag is gently tweaked to further distribute and a piece of transparent tape is placed over the hole. The bags are left on until all neighboring planted and natural Carpinus are finished dehiscing pollen.
