Description:

Join Currituck County 4-H for a trip to the Alligator River Refuge Center and the ECU Coastal Studies Institute. Participants will learn all about the wildlife and plant ecosystems found in the Refuge while taking an educational tram tour and hike the surrounding trails. After a picnic lunch we will travel to the UNC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese NC, for a series of activities centered on coastal estuaries and ecosystems. Participants will become marine biologists for the day-collecting marine organisms and plant life from the nearby sounds and estuaries.

We are excited to offer this program and we have been able to significantly reduce the cost through a generous wildlife educational grant from the Albemarle Area Quail Unlimited organization.

We are accepting cash and check payments in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Please, make checks payable to NCSU. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Currituck Extension Office located at 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917, within 5 days of registration.

Youth will need to bring a bag lunch, snacks, a towel, water shoes, and a bathing suit or an extra set of clothes. Bug spray, sunscreen, and bottled water will be provided.
