Currituck 4-H Livestock Program
Informational Meeting
4-H livestock and animal science programs have proven to be a highly effective aid in the development of youth into productive members of society. But this is just one of the benefits gained by participation in livestock and other animal science activities. A study conducted at Texas Tech University has identified several areas where youth have shown significant advancement in life skill acquisition.
Increased levels of responsibility has typically been one of the key life skills identified in youth participating in local and state livestock programs. The Texas Tech study noted that there was also significant growth in confidence, sportsmanship, compassion, commitment, leadership, knowledge and care of animals, and social relationships and communications. Furthermore a large percentage of participants stated that even though the project required hardwork and dedication it was such fun that they would continue to participate as long as possible.
Join the Currituck County 4-H staff for an online (Zoom) informational meeting December 15, 2020 at 6pm. We will provide an overview of the Livestock Program, animal care and acquisition, the specifics of the Albemarle Livestock Show and Sale, program registration information, due dates and staff and participant responsibilities. We will also have an open question and answer session during the meeting.
