Description:

Dinner and a movie, well this is your chance to play the role of a detective and see if you can solve the food mystery case. This program will teach participants the importance of food safety and culinary skills as teams work together to solve the case.

Teams made up of 2 -5 people (you choose your team) will choose one recipe from our list to prepare and eat together. Teams will bring their own ingredients and we will supply all equipment needed. The evening will begin with a theatrical performance of a dinner party which ultimately ends with someone not “feeling” so well. The performance will take a brief intermission and participants will learn about food safety, culinary skills, and knife safety. Once teams have completed the food safety and culinary lessons they will prepare their own meals. Once all teams have prepared their meals they will sit together to eat and try to solve the mystery. Teams will be able to question suspects during this time and have 30 minutes for questioning and formulating a reason for the mystery. At the end of the 30 minutes, teams will turn in the name of the person they think caused the food illness and list what possibly caused the illness.

This will be a fun night with friends and a great way to work as a team and learn the importance of food safety. This program is open to both youth and adults. The deadline to register is January 17, 2020. Please see the links below for the recipes your team can choose to make. You can register online or by calling the office at 252.459.9810. The program will be held at the Nash County AG Center.
