Funnel web spiders

Some spiders build funnel-shaped webs on the ground, near vegetation or near buildings (such as the foundation vent well shown here). The spider hides in down in the narrow end of the and rushes out to grab prey that wander by or become entrapped in the webbing. The spider then drags the prey back into its lair. .
