About Our Agriculture Programs

North Carolina Cooperative Extension provides research based information to assist farmers refine their production practices and excel as environmental stewards. The Caldwell County Center serves a diverse agricultural community ranging from cattle to tobacco to nursery crops. The center assists the Caldwell County Cattlemen’s Association, the Caldwell County Nurserymen’s Association, the Caldwell County Farmer’s Market Association, as well as hosts various educational events throughout the year.

Craig Adkins
Area Specialized Commercial Horticulture Agent – Providing leadership, educational opportunities and assistance in the area of nursery production, greenhouse operation and landscaping in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, McDowell and Wilkes counties in the foothills area of North Carolina.
Seth Nagy
County Agricultural Agent – Active programming in beef production, meat goats, dairy & poultry waste management, tobacco & fields crops, pesticide coordinator and the county contact for forestry.
Molly A. Sandfoss
Area Specialized Agent – Aquaculture, Provide educational programs in aquaculture focusing on husbandry and management of aquatic organisms appropriate for culture in the twelve county area of: Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, McDowell, Mitchell, Rutherford, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.
