An integral part of the livestock program in Wayne County involves youth. Young people have oppotunities to become involved in livestock through several different events and programs. There are 4-H livestock and horse clubs, devoted to educating young people about livestock, FFA chapters at many of the high schools, livestock and horse shows, as well as other team events, including livestock judging, livestock skillathon, horse judging, demonstrations, etc. The Junior Livestock Show and Sale takes place every spring during Easter Break, allowing youth to show beef cattle, market hogs, and meat goats, and market their animal at a sale following the show.
