The Wilson County Cooperative Extension Service, 1806 S. Goldsboro Street, is hosting an Open House "Home for the Holidays - Santa's Workshop" on Wednesday, December 1, from 10 AM until 2 PM. The public is invited to come to this free event. There will be free holiday treats to eat and drink and a free holiday cookbook. No reservations are required, just come.
The Wilson Ag. Center's auditorium will be transformed into a winter wonderland with Santa and his elves busy making toys. Holiday decorating ideas will stimulate the creativeness in all.
This year we plan on having several artists set up showing their skills thanks to a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program through the Arts Council of Wilson.
Around the auditorium different holiday crafts will be demonstrated. If you always wanted to learn how to make a bow from your holiday wreath bring 5 yards of your favorite ribbon, demonstrators will be on hand. Crafts will include ornaments made from clothespins, sea shells, leaves, clay pots and natural materials, etc. The directions for each craft will be included in the free holiday craft and cookbook. Making these decorations would be a good way to spend some quality time with your family during the hustle and bustle of the holidays. As a mama of two, I make ornaments with my two sons each year. This year we made oyster Santas which you can learn at the Home for the Holidays event.
At 10:15 and 11:30 AM you have the choice between two art workshops, One Stoke painted glass ornaments or painted Santa gourds. At 1 PM you can paint Santa wine bottles or make a Holiday "baggie" wreath. To register make a $10 (for each workshop) check payable to the Wilson County Ag. Center and call 237-0113 and speak to Sue Nichols.
So please come to the Wilson Ag. Center, 1806 S. Goldsboro Street, on Wednesday, December 1 from 10 AM until 2 PM for "Home for the Holidays".
