The "Building Better Teens" is a collaboration of Wayne County Public Schools and a number of youth and family serving organizations. Collaboration member include:

WHO:

"Building Better Teens" is an after-school program for students that attend Brogden Middle School, Dillard Middle School, and Goldsboro Intermediate School. The program includes:

An emphasis of the program is to improve the student's success academically while addressing the developmental needs of the students.

WHERE:

"Building Better Teens" program will be conducted five days a week after-school, twice a month Saturday Academy, along with summer activities. The program will be conducted at Brogden Middle School, Dillard Middle School and Goldsboro Intermediate School.

PROGRAM:

The focus of the "Building Better Teens" program is designed to enrich youth's lives, educationally, socially, culturally, emotionally, and physically while providing a safe and familiar setting for youths. The program will create an environment that offers a base of warmth and security while at the same time provide a variety of recreational, social and academically oriented activities. The program will meet the needs of youths by interaction and by supplementing the nurturing provided by family.

Nutritious snacks are provided each day for the students.

SUMMER PROGRAMS:

A special Enrichment Institute will be conducted on the campus of Mount Olive College. Students will rotate through academic classes such as math, science, and writing. Other activities include planning community service projects, and enrichment classes such as health and wellness, physical fitness, career choices, and more.
