REINS

 

Welcome to the Wake County unit of REINS Region 14

REINS hosted the first annual barn tour in eastern Wake County on November 5, 2005 which featured three barns. Participants visited: St. Claire Red Mule Farm, a private farm owned by Shannon Hoffman; Cool Breeze, owned and operated by Curtis and Jackie Dean,who raise and train thoroughbreds; and Twin Springs Farm, owned and operated by Bob and Susan Meyer, who specialize in breeding.

Neuse River Animal Hospital then hosted a catered luncheon. Lecture topics included: nutrition in horses by Merideth Mills from Southern States; pasture management by Chatham County Extension Agent Sam Groce; and maintaining a performance horse, barn and fencing safety and breeding all by Dr. Bob Meyer.

Event participants included a Wake County 4-H c\Club and Horse owners wanting to gain knowledge on up-to-date information and techniques dealing with horses.
