For background information on the association, read the Membership Information Brochure (.pdf format) on this web site.
Over the years we have experienced many changes and yet have continued to grow and develop into the largest member association within Cooperative Extension Service, and in 2003 we celebrate 30 years. Our association has undergone a name change three times, but our purpose has never changed. You will find it interesting to know that there are still association charter members working in Extension offices throughout the state. We must be doing something right as an organization and an association that 30 years later some of the original members are still out there in the thick of things! In fact, we just recently had an Extension secretary who retired after a 60-year career! Now, that is what you call long-term employment!
Personally, along with the professional development opportunities I have participated in over the last 18 years, the association members I have come to know and call my friends have made all the efforts worthwhile. Not many folks I know have the opportunities that Extension personnel do; we can say we know someone in every county in the entire state and be telling the truth! Because of the nature of our business, we have many, many opportunities and it is up to each individual what is made of the opportunity. The old saying, "If you put nothing in, you sure won't be getting anything out," holds true for association membership.
The personal friendships developed with association members across the state cannot be measured - only valued!
Oh, we do have fun, too!
