Being Active can Help Reduce Depression

Depression is an emotional state in which one feels sad, lonely and dejected. Depression is often accompanied by fatigue, headaches and other physical symptoms. If these feelings continue for a period of time, the depression may become an illness that can get worse if left untreated.
Some forms of depression require medication prescribed by a doctor or therapy with a counselor. However, many people find that by engaging in a fun form of physical activity the feelings associated with mild forms of depression subside. Being physically active helps some people cope with depression. The first step is to find an activity that you enjoy. Ask a friend to join you. Not only does that contribute to your own physical and mental health it can give a boost to a friend’s day as well.
