| Being
Active can Help Reduce Depression |
|
Depression is an emotional state in which one feels sad,
lonely and dejected. Depression is often accompanied by fatigue, headaches
and other physical symptoms. If these feelings continue for a period
of time, the depression may become an illness that can get worse if left
untreated.
Some forms of depression require medication prescribed by a doctor or therapy
with a counselor. However, many people find that by engaging in a fun form of
physical activity the feelings associated with mild forms of depression subside.
Being physically active helps some people cope with depression. The first step
is to find an activity that you enjoy. Ask a friend to join you. Not only does
that contribute to your own physical and mental health it can give a boost to
a friend’s day as well.
