4-H Cloverbud Program

In Sampson County

The Cloverbud Program is an informal educational enrichment program about sharing, learning, and growing. It helps youth develop in the context of their families, communities, schools, friends, and group settings. It provides opportunities for youth to "learn by-doing." Youth can participate in Partner-in- Learning Mini Projects dealing with topics such as citizenship, clothing, birds, safety, and entomology.

Any youth 5-8 years of age, regardless of race, sex, disability, national origin, or religion may become a Cloverbud. Age eligibility is established as of January 1 of the current year.

Cloverbud is a branch of the traditional 4-H program, operating through the NC Cooperative Extension Service. It works in cooperation with parents and volunteers organizing and conducting a variety of programs within their communities.

Cloverbuds:

  1. learn by doing in a variety of hands-on experiences.
  2. become able to experience early success.
  3. learn to make their own decisions.
  4. are recognized for their efforts.

Parents and volunteers can help by:

  1. sharing their talents and skills with the youth.
  2. being positive role models to the youth.
  3. assisting with meetings and program planning.
  4. providing a location for small group meetings.
