Would you like to form a 4-H Club in your community?  Anyone can start a club.  Here are the basic requirements:

  • Have a membership of at least five (roster submitted to 4-H Office).
  • Meet in a safe location over at least once per month over a nine-month period.
  • Is volunteer led by parents, other adults, and/or youth (with completed and approved volunteer applications).
  • Have a youth leadership structure that is developmentally appropriate.
  • Have a club calendar that outlines quality learning experiences and social activities that are developmentally appropriate for its members.
  • Follow appropriate affirmative action guidelines.

There are "Six Easy Steps" to organizing a new
4-H Club.

  1. Get other parents interested. Call the 4-H Office to set up an information meeting.
  2. Plan and conduct a meeting. Recruit families, publicize and set an agenda.
  3. Recruit club leaders. The club will need at least three leaders.
  4. Participate in training. 4-H Agents conduct training sessions for all new leaders.
  5. Conduct an organizational meeting. Normal meetings include pledges, business, an educational program and recreation.
  6. Support the club. Groups normally take one full year to become fully established.

To become a 4-H leader, contact the 4-H Office by clicking on the "Comments on 4-H" button to your left or calling 704-633-0571.  An informational packet will be sent to you along with a 4-H Volunteer Application Form.
