Introduction

We are pleased to announce that the New Extension Faculty Orientation Training will be held August 16-18, 2011 for individuals hired between March 2011 to August 2011. The conference will begin with registration at 8:00 am on Tuesday, August 16 and conclude on Thursday, August 18.


This three-day conference will be held at the University Club, 4200 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC and the lodging will be provided by the Ramada Inn Blue Ridge,1520 Blue Ridge Drive, Raleigh, NC.

Travel and Lodging

Travel will be paid from your county allocations; however, participants are encouraged to car pool.
Persons needing lodging are asked to make the reservation on their own, secure a roommate from
the New Agent List and share lodging. Only state per diem rate on lodging, food and mileage will be accepted.

Some individuals may choose to commute all three days due to the close proximity of your home county.

Program Components

The major emphasis of the conference will be centered around the seven Agent Core Competencies,
extension programming process (planning, implementation, evaluation and accountability), building effective Extension work teams and survival skills for success. Participants will receive other resources to support these topics and identify online websites, courses, videos and other programs to supplement orientation training.
