Research interests and responsibilities:
I have an 80/20 split between research and extension. My
interests are primarily with the development of
specialty type potatoes and the improvement of chipping lines
that will have high specific gravity, and resistance to
Internal Heat Necrosis. Also we have an ongoing study to identify
germplasm that is Colorado Potato Beetle resistant for use in
cultivar development. My responsibilities with the program are the
implementation of trials in both the field and
greenhouse, the coordinaton, procurement, and management of all
necessary help and temporary workers, and collection and management
of all data from trials we conduct. Part of the data managment is
the development and maintenance of an online database,
which stretches, back to 1995. My extension responsibilities
involve the dissemination of the data collected in the form of an
annual report as well as the presentation of the data to growers and
industry stake-holders at various meetings.
