Canada Geese (& Cackling? or Lesser?)
Photographed these birds December 31st, 2007 near a sand barrow pit next to the Tidewater Research Station Property in Plymouth, on the south side of US64E.

Had been told there were some Cackling Geese in the flock. I found these birds, and noticed the one bird, for example, is significantly shorter than the goose behind it. However, I can't find a white ring around the base of the neck, and the breast is quite light. The neck is longer than I'd give a Cackling Goose credit for as well.

I have never seen one before, so I am going by my Sibley's as well as descriptions from websites such as Kent Fiala's Alaska Trip site, which features a Cackling Goose.

(Apologies for the photo quality. This image is severly cropped from the original. Birds were at quite a distance.)
