RSF = Recirculating Sand Filter
ISF = Intermttent Sand Filter
Bio-Filter = Waterloo Bio-Filter
IN = Septic Tank Effluent (except for Brierwood Site).
OUT = Treated Effluent (Before Leachfield, Except for Brierwood
Site).
Bioclere = AWT Bioclere
RTF = ORENCO Trickling Filter
*RTF is installed in the septic tank and discharges to a sand-
lined bed;
Samples are collected at the tank outlet & at the bottom of the
bed.
NOTE: RTF installed at Brierwood site is a treatment device
that improves the performance of the septic tank. This device is
designed to reduce BOD, Total Nitrogen, and Total Phosphorus.
Septic affluent is treated before it is discharged out of the
tank. Hence, the % Removal for BOD, Total Nitrogen, and Total
Phosphorus is calculated using the average value of septic
effluent and the Bittersweet and Washington Street sites. Septic
tanks at these sites have effluent screens.
