Division of Environmental Health
This conference is an advanced training program that will provide
important information for county personnel, state agency
personnel, professional engineers, consultants, installers, and
soil scientists. This conference is for you, if you are:
Purpose
The 1997 On-Site Wastewater Treatment Conference has three
objectives:
Overview
The twelth annual On-Site Wastewater Treatment Conference has
been designed to bring you information on the ways on-site
domestic sewage treatment systems work and how to manage them to
maintain public health and minimize environmental impacts. This
year, the conference will focus on problem solving with new
technologies, innovative thinking, and practical solutions.
Our theme is cradle-to-grave care of on-site systems from the
simple, standard systems to the complex and advanced. The first
and second days of the conference will be held at the NCSU
McKimmon Center, and the third day will consist of your choice of
one of six field tours located throughout the state, from the
mountains to the coast. Two classrooms will run concurrently for
a large part of the agenda. One classroom will be conducted as a
traditional forum, and the second will be devoted to hands-on
workshop sessions in which participants will work in small groups
to solve six site evaluation, design, and installation problem
scenarios.
The Manufacturers Exhibit continues to be a highly successful
aspect of the conference, and the Planning Committee has decided
to expand the exhibit to 2 full days (Tuesday and Wednesday,
October 14 and 15, 1997) including a networking social Tuesday
afternoon. The convenient access to manufacturer representatives
will facilitate one-on-one contact with the people who can help
you best utilize the available technologies. Manufacturers will
participate in the Case Studies Workshops and help develp
solutions for each problem site scenario. (Note: Manufacturers
who wish to exhibit at the confernce must register separately.
