Mobile Acres II

The 9000 GPD system was installed in 1990 to serve an expansion of an existing moblie home park. The expansion of the park includes 25 three bedroom spaces. The system used a more traditioinal approach in that there are 4 drainfield zones each served by a 2 HP pump. A control panel alterantes between the four pumps each cycle which is controlled by floats. The LPP drainfields were installed using a trencher in a partially cleared wooded area.

The LTAR is .15 gpd/square foot. Each of teh four zones has 3000 linear feet of LPP laterals which are fed from the upper side with sub-manifolds and 4 control valves. The design delivery rate to each subfield is between 141 and 148 gpm.

For the most part, the system has operated without significant problems for the last 5 years. The park has been at full capacity for less than two years. There are two STEP systems within the park that pump to the gravity effluent collection system. All other speces have individual speit ctanks which discharge into the collection system. Due to the remote location of the dosing station, a radio transmitter and remote alarm was used so that the alarm is audible and visible.

The dosing station consists of a 1500 gallon two compartment tank for additional settling and flow buffering, followed by a 8000 gallon single compartment pump chamber measuring 10' X 16' surface area.

    SCHEDULE OF OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE:

Every 6 months: Septic tanks shall be inspected for influent/effluent line blockage, tank leakage, and solids accumulation. Tanks shall be pumped as needed, but in no case less than once every 5 years.

Every 1 month: Pump tanks shall be inspected for leaks and solids accumulation. Solids shall be removed as necessary. Pump, controls, floats, and alarm shall be checked for proper operation. All components of the pump/control system shall be kept in compliance with current standards.

Every 12 months: A pump drawdown rate shalll be determined.

Every 1 month: Drainfield shall be inspected for seepage or saturation, settled ground surface, broken pipes, maintenance of vegetation, protection from traffic, and diversion of surface water.

Every 6 months: Drainlines shall be flushed of solids accumulation with the valves opended. Design pressure head adjustment shall be made.

Every 1 month: Ground surface around the tanks and drainfield shall be inspected for areas of depression or ponding. The ground surface shall be kept smooth and well drained.

Every 1 month: Meters and counters shall be read and recorded.
