  • Participate in hands-on PLT activities, both indoors and out
  • Expand knowledge our natural and built environments, and our human connections to natural resources
  • Enhance teaching skills
  • Plan ways to use PLT activities to accomplish curricular goals
  • Receive PLT activity guide free of charge
  • Obtain teacher renewal or NC EE Certification credit

PLT workshops are open for any educators, and many of the activities can easily be modified for any age group. PLT workshops and the materials are also great for those involved with youth groups, scouting, homeschool educators, and parents! Others attending your PLT workshop may include state park rangers, local teachers, 4-H agents and volunteer leaders, forest rangers, YMCA educators, homeschool parents, and natural resource professionals.

To register for any of the workshops listed below, please email or call the contact person listed. Pre-registration and a commitment to attend is required for all workshops. Unless stated, all workshops are provided free of charge.

This workshop will cover the PLT PreK-8 Guide, and the secondary module, Focus on Forests.  There is a $10 registration fee being collected by the Allison Woods Foundation to cover some materials cost.

Project Learning Tree (PLT) is a cross-cutting environmental education program designed for educators of ANY background.  The hands-on activities facilitate the exploration of topics including communication, economics, energy and fuels, geology, government, history, recycling, transportation, watersheds, wildlife, and much more! Participants will learn about the curriculum materials through direct engagement led by trained facilitators throughout the workshop.

Differentiated instruction? Technology connections? Literature links? STEM?  The PLT activity guide covers it all!! The PreK-8 guide is correlated to the Common Core (math and ELA) as well as to the NC Essential Standards (science and social studies).  CEU renewal credits are available and this workshop qualifies for Criteria I in the North Carolina EE Certification Program.

Please pre-register and make a personal commitment to attend to ensure there are enough materials and space for everyone.  We ask that you please cancel registration in a timely manner if you cannot attend so someone else may take your place in this professional development workshop.
