Grew up in Raleigh, educated in Raleigh Public School System. Attended North Carolina State University after graduation from Sanderson High School Received BS degree in Botany in 1974. Received MA degree in Plant Pathology in 1977. Has lived in Pitt County since December of 1977.

Responsible for Agricultural Extension Education in the following areas: Crop production information concerning peanuts, cotton, corn and small grains. Also responsible for pesticide education and pesticide related issues. Father of two sons, Hank and David, and two stepchildren, Lucy and Will Kitchin. Married to Mary Holt Faircloth. Enjoys running, swimming, outdoor sports, reading, and life in general. Mostly fishing.
