4-H Youth Development

As the Pitt County 4-H coordinator, Dale is responsible for reaching youth ages 5 through 18 in Pitt County with educational and out-of-school activities. Youth participate in organized club programs, special activity and workshop programs, camps, and after school enrichment programs. Adult volunteers are recruited and trained to assist the 2000 plus youth who participate in the programs annually. Coordinating the competitive and noncompetitive educational programs offered through 4-H with the assistance of adult volunteers is the full-time job of the 4-H professional.

Dale has a master's degree in child development and family relation from East Carolina University. Her undergraduate degree in home economics with a concentration in community service was received from Western Carolina University. She continues to receive professional improvement training through in-service training with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Serivce and her membership with the North Carolina and National Associations of Extension 4-H Agents.

She grew up in rural eastern North Carolina near Bath, N.C. and participated in the 4-H program for the ten years she was eligible. She has lived in Greenville with her family since taking the 4-H coordinator position in Pitt County in 1978.
