We are here... ...To listen, Not to work miracles.
... To help you discover what you feel, Not to make the feelings go away.
...To help you identify your options, Not to decide for you what you want to do.
... To discuss steps with you, Not to take the steps for you.
...To help you discover your own strength,
Not to rescue you and leave you still vulnerable.
... To help you learn to choose, Not to make it unnecessary for you
to make difficult choices.
...To Provide Support for Change.

PROGRAM GOALS

The goal of Intensive Family Preservation Services is to prevent the unnecessary placement of children away from their families by providing in-home services aimed at restoring families in crisis to an acceptable level of functioning. The service consists of six weeks of concentrated support that takes place in the families home and community. IFPS works with the entire family unit, focusing on the families strengths and resources. Family Connections currently provides IFPS services for Person, Caswell, Vance and Granville Counties.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Services of IFPS are designed to meet the following objectives :
1) stabilizing the crisis which puts the child at imminent risk;
2) keeping the child, family, and community safe by defusing the potential for violence (physical, sexual, emotional and verbal);
3) helping families develop the skills, competencies, and resources they need to handle future crisis situations more effectively.

WHO CAN QUALIFY FOR IFPS?

Families that are eligible for IFPS are those with one or more children, ages birth to 17, who are determined to be a danger to themselves or others, or are endangered by persons in the home. This endangerment is sufficient to put the child at imminent risk of an out of home placement into the Department of Social Services; Mental Health; or Juvenile Services.

Children for this service include those alleged or found to be abused, neglected, dependent, emotionally or behaviorally disturbed, undisciplined or delinquent.

IFPS is established as a short term, intensive, crisis-intervention program. Our purpose is to maintain the best interests of the child and the family; to keep the family unit intact by providing intensive family centered services that help create positive long term changes in the home environment.
