Flat River Antique Tractor Show
September 25-26, 2004

Display  Petting Zoo

Some of the Livestock Learners 4-H Club members helped man the petting zoo.

Tractor pulls, old trucks, farm animals, and bluegrass music; this is large-scale old homeplace. The 13th Annual Flat River Tractor Show was on September 25-26 at Optimist Park in Roxboro. Some of the events of the weekend were a lawn and garden pull, a tractor pull, bluegrass music, demonstrations of antique tractors, trucks, farming equipment, and a petting zoo.

On Saturday, you could have seen antique tractors pulling a C.A.T.P.A., Inc. sled in the Stock Antique and Super Antique class starting at 2 pm. After these classes, the farm class tractors pulled. The Swift Creek bluegrass band played from 12pm-3pm while the tractor pull was going on, and the petting zoo was open as well. On Sunday, the Lawn and Garden Pull started at 1pm, with the Kiddie Pull following at 2:30pm. The tractor show also featured old engines, antique tractors, a car show, a demonstration of antique farm equipment, old cars and trucks, and many arts and crafts made by local craftsmen.

The show opened Saturday from 9am until the tractor pulls were done. On Sunday, the show opened at noon until the events were complete. Admission for adults was $5 and children under 12 were free. Proceeds benefited the Person County Home Health and Hospice. If you weren't able to visit this year, go and see it next September.
