![]() The Person County 4-H Program celebrates '4-H Online' Computers and the internet have become a way of life and a necessity for many of the young people today. So, 4-H has decided to celebrate 4-H Online! This will be the theme for National 4-H Week 2004 as 4-H members, volunteers and staff from across the nation celebrate the 4-H community of young people across America from October 3-9. According to the Pew Internet Project (2003), 93 percent of young people ages 10-18 are actively online and want to find the information they need from online sources. 4-H is at the forefront of youth development organizations using the Internet with national, state and county 4-H programs and 4-H clubs actively developing new and more innovative online presences with the support of the National 4-H Youth Technology Team, state and county 4-H youth technology teams and the 4-H USA Web Crew. The 4-H USA Web Crew is a group of 14 teens from across the United State charged with designing 4-H’s first national website exclusively for, by and about youth. 4-H organizations across the nation will celebrate 4-H Online as nearly seven million members and more than 600,000 volunteers learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change during National 4-H Week from Sunday, October 3, 2004 to Saturday, October 9, 2004. Youth are powerful, eager, committed members of society, whose strength as leaders is the core of the 4-H youth development movement. Youth have the power to contribute significantly to communities, to create positive change, and to imagine new possibilities and directions. The 4-H youth development movement brings young people and their families together with volunteers, community members, and professionals in a powerful partnership through which all learn and grow. | ||
