Onslow County

Constructed Wetlands
Project (8)

Once all of the bentonite was applied, the material was lightly disked into the surrounding soil. As a final step, the bentonite/soil mixture was then packed together. When water was added, the bentonite/soil mixture swelled, forming an impermeable layer. (note: Wet bentonite is VERY SLICK, which makes for interesting walking while adding the wetland plants!)
