Breaking ground |

The hole for the first tank is being dug. During the installation of a septic system, care should be taken to not compact or smear the soil in either the trenches or the drain field. Compaction and smearing can also occur if the system is installed when the soil is too wet. If smearing or compaction of the soil was excessive during installation, the system may fail prematurely.
For demonstration purposes, these septic systems and tanks will be installed above-ground. If these were actual systems, they would be installed below-ground in accordance with the permit issued by the local county health department. The systems at this demo site will use fresh water, not wastewater, to demonstrate how each system and sytem component functions.
