Onslow County

Permeable Lagoon Cover
Project (9)

Watermelons were served during a July fieldtrip to the site. Afterwards, a watermelon plant began to grow on the cover. It was a very happy and healthy plant, and produced about six melons. This photo was taken after a frost killed the vine. Some grass (Bermuda) also took root on the cover (green patches on right). These events have generated thoughts about what else might be grown.
