Solid Set Irrigation Calibration:

Performing the Calibration

Solid Set Irrigation System Calibration:

It is strongly recommended that irrigation equipment be calibrated each year. Wear and tear on nozzles, debris in pipes, and changes in pump abilities can all result in changes in system performance. Literature (see below) is available to guide livestock producers through the calibration procedures. Good quality raingauges that can record differences of 0.01" provide better data than gauges that can only read to 0.10". For a solid set system, 16 gauges are set up within the area covered by four sprinkler risers. The irrigation system is then operated at the usual settings (time, pressure, etc.). Once completed, the amount of effluent in each gauge is recorded on a worksheet and the calculations are performed.
