Course Description: To a great degree drying influences the type and grade of the products being produced. This course is custom tailored to individual plants based on their kilns and the products they produce. Covered in the course are the variables that influence the rate and quality of drying, kiln operation, evaluating moisture content data, and drying schedules for high temperature drying. Drying for value added markets including schedules, equalizing, and conditioning can also be covered. Course Description: This course is designed to give the saw filer, sawyer, and plant manager an understanding of the parameters that influence saw design and sawing accuracy. Topics that can be covered include saw design, saw speed, feeds for various depths of cut, side clearances, saw bite calculations, calculating strain, high strain bandmills, and sawing accuracy. This course provides the opportunity to break into both classroom and hands on sessions to measure sawing accuracy and feed rates.
