Dr. Urs Buehlmann

Cabinet Making, Vocational School Thun
Background: Urs Buehlmann obtained a four year degree in Cabinet Making from the Vocational School Thun (1983), an engineering degree in wood products processing from the Swiss School of Wood Engineering (1993), an M.B.A. in finance and management from the Pamplin College of Business (1998) and a Ph.D. in Wood Science and Forest Products from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1998). He worked from 1983 to 1989 in the cabinet industry all over Europe. After completion of his M.B.A. and Ph.D. degree in 1998 he accepted a position as Assistant Professor for Industrial Engineering at the Department for Wood Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is a member of the Forest Products Society, the Society of Wood Science and Technology, and the Carolina Recycling Association.
