To receive the PLT activity guides, educators must attend a six-hour workshop. At this workshop, participants will:
  • Participate in hands-on PLT activities, both indoors and out
  • Expand knowledge of trees and forest ecology
  • Enhance teaching skills
  • Plan ways to use PLT activities to accomplish curricular goals
  • Receive PLT activity guide free of charge
  • Obtain teacher renewal or NC EE Certification credit
PLT workshops are open for any educators, and many of the activities easily can be modified for any age group.

PLT WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS:

Educator workshops are the basic PLT workshop. Here, participants will learn about the ins and outs of PLT from a trained PLT Facilitator. Participants leave the workshop ready to teach environmental issues to their students the next day.

Fire Focus Workshops are made possible through a grant between the national PLT office and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Come take a look at a PLT Fire Focus Workshop!

PLT Facilitators are the backbone of PLT in North Carolina. Facilitator workshops are for folks who are ready to spread PLT to others in their county or district. Participants at Facilitator workshops learn to use PLT in environmental education as well as how to host a workshop for educators. PLT Facilitators must be prepared to do at least one educator workshop in their area per year, actively advertise the workshop, send in proper forms to the PLT State Coordinator in a timely manner, and be available if possible for requested workshops in their area.
