What is Project Learning Tree?

sun

Project Learning Tree (PLT) is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators working with students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

sun

PLT uses the forest and trees as "windows" into natural and built environments, helping people gain an awareness and knowledge of the world around them and their place within it.

sun

PLT is a source of interdisciplinary instructional activities and provides workshops and in-service programs for teachers, environmental educators, and youth leaders.

sun

PLT prepares students to make informed decisions management practices and resource use by stressing how to think about the environment, not what to think.

sun

PLT is not just for North Carolina! There are PLT programs in all 50 states, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, Brazil and other countries throughout the world!

PLT has been evaluated nationally. Click here to read the studies involving PLT and environmental-based education.
