Fire Workshops!

Fire is a hot topic. Fire sparks an interest. Fire is a natural part of our ecosystem!

If you have an interest is fire, want to learn more
about fire behavior, or curious how fire fits into
our natural ecosystems - then the PLT Fire Focus workshops are for you!

Fire Focus workshops will stress the effects of fire on overall forest health and forested ecosystems. Discussions and activities will center around prescribed and wild fires. Participants will receive the PLT Prek-8 Activity Guide and high school modules. Other fire-specific resources will be available as well. Participants should be prepared to participate in a prescribed fire on-site (if weather permits). Clothing that can get dirty and smoky smelling, as well as no respiratory health issues, are highly recommended. Fire themed workshops are only scheduled in the late fall or winter.

This is a PreK-12 PLT workshop, using the PreK-8 activity guide and High School modules. It is a Criteria I workshop for NC Environmental Education Certification, but only for those that have never attended a Project Learning Tree workshop. Those that have already attended ANY PLT workshop can apply this to their Criteria II component, Experiences in the Outdoors. CEU Credits are available as well.

To see if there is a Fire Focus workshop scheduled in your area, please go to our workshop calendar.
