PLT Correlations
to the North Carolina
Standard Course of Study

January 2007 - The Correlations are now available on CD! Request your Correlation CD by contacting Renee. Searchable online database available soon!

The NC PLT Program recognizes the demand on classroom educators to meet the goals and objectives outlined in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The PLT PreK-8 Guide is correlated to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study objectives in Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science for Kindergarten through Eighth grade.

We encourage classroom and non-formal educators to use these correlations as they create their lesson plans or create programs for visiting classes.

As of November 2006, all Project Learning Tree activities are correlated to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Standard Course of Study for the following subjects and revision date:

English Language Arts 2004 Revision
Math 2003 Revision
Science 2004 Revision
Social Studies 2003 Revision

Thanks go out to the teachers who came together in Raleigh to compelte the correlations!

Funding for this project was provided in part through an Urban and Community Forestry Grant from the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service, Southern Region.

This is a beginning attempt at providing this valuable information to formal and nonformal educators in North Carolina. We will continue to modify and work on creating the most user-friendly database we can. Until that time, please contact Renee Strnad at 919-515-5518 with any questions or concerns you may have.

*PLEASE READ BEFORE OPENING FILES*

  • You must have Microsoft Excel in order to access these files successfully. If you do not have Excel, or would like a CD-ROM of the correlations, please contact Renee at 919-515-5518.

  • Currently, the best way to use the files is to save them in a temp file on your computer and run virus check on them. To do this "right click" on the grade level you want to view, and then select "save target as". Choose where you want the file saved and click save.
  • If you choose to view and sort the files online - DO NOT SAVE YOUR SETTINGS! Selecting a file will open it in a new window. When you close this window, a pop-up message will appear that says "This document has been changed. Do you want to save changes". Please select no. Other choices will effect ability of others to use the workbooks.
