UNC Greensboro Campus Walking Tour

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is pleased to host a field trip to Peabody Park, a true “Urban Forest” of approximately 30 acres located at the north end of campus. Specific examples of best practices of construction around trees will be discussed including, re-forestation after an asphalt road was removed, stream restoration, root pruning, deep root fertilization, root aeration beds, and tree pruning. A short video of the construction process and a walking tour of the campus will be included, so bring comfortable walking shoes. The tour originates from the lobby of the Greensboro Downtown Marriott Hotel.

Rain Garden Tour

Participants will tour two rain garden systems in the Greensboro area, one located at the Guilford County Extension office and one at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Branch of the Greensboro Public Library. An overview of the function and impact of the rain gardens as well as the project design and installation process will be discussed. The tour originates from the lobby of the Greensboro Downtown Marriott Hotel.
