grape tube gall

The picture at left was sent in by NC Cooperative Extension Horticulture Agent, Keith Wood.

The galls are causes by the Grape Tube Gallmaker (Cedidomynia viticola), which is not of "great economical importance."  Therefore, not really worth spraying for or removing manually.

There's an Iowa newsletter online (see it here) that has a very similar picture and one from Ohio (see it here) with yellow galls.
