Watauga Extension will be offering the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course this spring. An informational meeting was held on Feb. 7th, but we are still willing to take applications of those who were not able to attend. Please call to schedule a time to talk to Paige Patterson, Horticulture Agent if you were unable to attend the informational meeting but still would like to participate in the course. (828-264-3061) Participation in the course will be limited to 25 participants.
The course will begin March 13th and be held on Wed. mornings from 8:30-12:00, for a duration of 13 weeks with 1 week off as a “spring break”. We prefer that participants miss no more than 2 classes.
Topics to be covered in the course: Botany, propagation, soils, vegetables, fruits, insects, disease, landscaping, turf, perennials, native plants and more. See full schedule here: 2024 MG Course Schedule Final
If you are interested in applying to participate, the deadline to return the application to our office (971W. King St. Boone, NC 28607) is Feb. 16th.
