Forest Resources Nearly 60 percent of North Carolina's 33 million acres is considered forestland. North Carolina Cooperative Extension works in partnership with other agencies to provide research-based educational programs that help young people, landowners, foresters, natural resource managers and others understand and make wise use of valuable forest resources.
