                 KEEP YOUR WILL UP-TO-DATE

Preparing a will is usually the best way to make sure your
property is distributed the way you want after your death.
However, you must keep your will up-to-date or your plans may go
awry!

Make certain to change your will when you marry or have
children or when a divorce, annulment, death, or separation
occurs. And, you should update your will if your legal residence
is changed to another state. Also, you should consider updating
your will when your financial situation changes or when tax laws
are revised.

One should NEVER under any circumstances scratch
through or write in changes on a will. You may invalidate your
will by doing so. Instead, see your attorney about the changes
you want to make. He will either redraft your will completely,
or make a simple addition (a codicil) to your existing will.

Some individuals opt to use do-it-yourself wills, but, it is
still generally a good idea to seek the assistance of an
attorney.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension Service has publications
concerning Living Wills, Health Care Power of Attorney,
Distribution of Nontitled Property and Estate Planning which may
also help with your decisions related to preparing your personal
will. To obtain a copy of any of these publications please
