This one-acre demonstration site was started in 1990 by reclaiming a vacant overgrown field.  Master Gardener Volunteers with the N. C. Cooperative Extension Service, using donated materials from corporations and individuals have created a variety of garden demonstrations that offer the general public a hands-on learning classroom.

The Legacy Demonstration Garden is open year round from sunrise until sunset.  Admission is free.  The garden is located behind the barn adjacent to the Agricultural Center.

Information Sheets are available in boxes near each different garden area.

Plants include:
small fruit
tree fruit
herbs
woody ornamentals
ground covers
annuals
perennials
grasses
roses
vegetables
Demonstrations Include:
a butterfly garden
screening plants
vegetable trials
turf grass plots
wet-site garden plots
shade tolerant plants
low water-use plants

The Guilford County Beekeepers Association maintains beehives on site to help pollinate the plants.
