NC Snake Pictures / Gray Ratsnake

Nonvenomous; adult size 42-103 inches.
Rat snakes feed on copperhead snakes, rats, mice, and lizards. These snakes are often found in houses and other buildings when they are young. Note the picture of a juvenile Gray Ratsnake beneath the first picture on this page. They are frequently misidentified as copperheads, to which they bear only a slight resemblance (see pictures comparing both species of snakes back on the main snake page).
