Non-Poisonous; 6.5-13 inches; tree-dweller; Feeds on insects.
Females are striped with faint orange-yellow head markings, as seen in this picture. Breeding males are brown with red heads. Like other NC skinks, the young have bright blue tails. The females keep their stripes but lose the blue tails as they age. This is NC's largest skink.
