GASTON COUNTY FARMERS'
MARKET INC. RULES AND GUIDELINES
Here's the "nitty-gritty" for farmers interested in becoming
vendors!
A $5.00 membership fee per year is required. Stall fee is seven
dollars ($7.00) per day per space. Money collected will be used
to pay a market manager for advertising and for certain other
expenses. Any money accumulated will be put into a savings
account for the building. Those refusing to pay these fees may
be permanently barred from the market.

- Agricultural produce
(vegetables,
fruits, etc.)
- Potted plants, shrubbery, flowers, etc.
- Jellies, jams, preserves and honey (must be labeled).
NOTE: Label must include:
- common food name
- if
more than one ingredient is used, the name of each ingredient in
decreasing order of prominence
- an accurate statement of
net quantity of contents
- name and address of
producer

- Flea market items
- Low acid canned foods such as
corn, tomatoes, beans, etc. as specified by the NCDA

Cream pies such as Boston Cream, Chocolate Cream, Coconut Cream
and pies of this type

Any producer who is a North
Carolina
resident or who owns a farm in North Carolina will be allowed to
sell produce which he/she has grown. All vendors must possess a
grower's permit signed by the Agricultural Extension Agent in
their county (this must be on file with the market manager by the
second visit). The vendor will be allowed to sell only producer
which he has grown himself.

- Each vendor is
responsible for
leaving his selling space clean.
- Drinking and disorderly
conduct by vendors will not be allowed.
- Suggestions for
improving the Market should be put in writing, signed, and given
to one of the Market Committee members.
- Any complaint
concerning the Market and/or its operation should be in writing,
signed, and given to one of the Market Committee members or the
Market Manager.
