Solid waste, water quality, and air quality are problems we are experiencing in Gaston County.

- solid waste: reduce, reuse, recycle
- water quality: volunteers monitor streams, stencil storm drains, and join the Quality of Natural Resources Commission
- air quality: carpool, reduce use of electricity especially during peak load times, compost leaves and yard refuse, regular automobile maintanance.
How can I get my well water tested?
Many Gaston County people have public water or a community well. These wells are tested on a regular basis, and copies of test results are available to the public. If you have a private well, the Gaston County Health Department will test the water for you. Call 853-5200 for more details. back to the list
